The BS6 compliant Isuzu MU-X has been launched in India recently. The launch of the car was delayed due to the pandemic situation. Back in October 2018, the MU-X was updated in the form of design and added features. This time, the carmaker has introduced the BS6 1.9-liter diesel engine. The carmaker retains the exterior and the interior of the SUV.

The MU-X has an eagle-inspired styling as per the carmaker. The car has bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime-running lights and a redesigned rear. The bumper has a fog light and a chrome bezel to give the car a more upmarket look. The SUV runs on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The MU-X also has a higher ground clearance of 230mm.

The cabin gets a sporty look from the Lava Black leather upholstery done in fine quilted leather. The look of the cabin is made more premium by soft-touch plastic and silver inserts. The mesmerizing features also include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a one-touch fold function for second and third-row seats, 60:40 seats with integrated armrest and cupholders, a USB port in the middle of the console box, and many more.

The price of the base model of the diesel engine is around Rs. 36.75 lakh, and the base price of the top model is Rs. 38.90 lakh.

Dimension and capacity

The Isuzu MU-X is 4825mm in length; the width is 1860mm; the height is 1860mm with a ground clearance of 230mm unladen and a wheelbase of 2845mm. This car comes with a boot capacity of 235 liters, which is great for long-distance travel. The passenger capacity of Isuzu MU-X is 7, along with five doors. The Kerb weight is between 2010kg-2105kg. The car has a rear tread of 1570mm and a front tread of 1570mm as well. 

Engine and Transmission

This car is equipped with a 1.9L Ddi Diesel engine. The diesel engine comes with a displacement of 1898cc. The car is available in automatic transmission. Isuzu MU-X is designed keeping in mind with passenger’s comfort with independent Double wishbone coil springs gas shock absorbers stabilizer bar suspension in front and Penta-link coil suspension gas shock absorbers stabilizer bar suspension in the rear. It also has a power steering wheel with a tilt and collapsible steering column. The steering gear is of Rack & Pinion type. Isuzu MU-X NRG has a turning radius of 5.8 meters. Safety

The safety of the passengers is the top priority of Tata. Keeping that in mind and following the rules laid down by the government, the company has introduced all the necessary safety measures in the car.

The driver panel has a central locking key meant for the doors, and each door has a power lock. The anti-lock braking system is the top safety feature of Tata Isuzu MU-X NRG. In addition, children’s safety is managed by child safety locks on all doors. 

There are six (6) airbags in this car, driver and passenger airbags, side airbag rear.

The rear seats are safe with seat belts. There is a rear seat belt warning on the desktop to indicate the driver’s safety. The car’s body is kept safe with both side and front impact beams. The Door Ajar warning does not let the engine of the car start unless all the doors are properly locked. 

The driver’s seat is adjustable. There is also a crash sensor safety device in the car which slows or stops the car when it detects any collision. 

The driver can check the condition of the engine in the engine check monitor before commencing the journey. The headlamps are automatic, which means it automatically switches on and off depending on natural light. The tire pressure monitor keeps the driver aware of the condition of all the tires. 

There is a rear camera that helps the driver to park the car without looking at the mirror. The car has hill assist and hill descent controls. The Isuzu MU-X is equipped with an ISOFIX child seat mount. 

Comfort and convenience

The steering of Isuzu MU-X NRG is power generated. Both front and rear windows are power windows. There is air condition for summer and a heater for winter in this car. The steering is adjustable according to the height of the driver. The trunk opener is remote-controlled. There is a light in the trunk for better sight. 

Isuzu MU-X NRG has an indicator in the dashboard which blinks when the fuel is low. The headrest in the rear and front are adjustable. There is an armrest in the center of the rear seat. 

There are cup holders in front to hold your favorite hot or cold drinks. The dashboard has a navigation system and rear parking sensor. 

The Isuzu MU-X NRG’s dashboard is equipped with an engine start/stop button and a voice control system. There are USB chargers both in front and rear. 

The rear seats are 60:40 split foldable. The car has keyless entry features along with intelligent access card entry and luggage hook and net.

The Isuzu MU-X is available in two variants they are MU-X 4×2 and MU-X 4×4.

Isuzu MU-X is available in six different colors: Galena Grey, Nautilus Blue, Red Spinal Mica, Black Mica, Silver Metallic, and Silky White Pearl. The Silver Metallic and Galena Grey are the colors that are in demand.
