The next micro SUV- Tata HBX
Are you one of those persons who has always desired to drive an SUV but has never had the opportunity due to the vehicle’s large size? Then we’ve got a solution for you. Tata’s next big introduction for the Indian market is the HBX (codename) micro-SUV. The production HBX, which will be positioned behind the Nexon, would try to capitalize on the demand for SUVs in India. The car has been sighted testing multiple times, with a debut expected before the end of the calendar year, as previewed by the HBX concept at Auto Expo 2020.
Tata HBX Key Specifications:
Tata HBX Color: The Tata HBX was spotted partially camouflaged, revealing important design elements. As of now, there is no official update from the brand’s end. We would request you to wait for the official announcement.
Tata HBX Price: Tata could charge anything between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) for the mini SUV. 15 Aug 2021 Expected Launch Date.
Power train: It will be powered by the same 1.2-liter petrol engine (86PS/113Nm) as the Altroz, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. Tata may also be able to supply it with the Atroz’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Tata HBX Features: The HBX could come with a 7-inch touchscreen, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and automatic air conditioning.
Tata HBX Safety: Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear parking camera will all be standard.
Tata HBX Rivals: The Mahindra KUV100 NXT, MarutiIgnis, and the impending Hyundai AX1 micro-SUV will compete against the HBX. It will compete with select Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger models due to its price.
Latest updates of the Tata HBX:
- The commercial version of the Tata HBX mini SUV will closely resemble the HBX concept:
The production micro-SUV will share the majority of its design elements with the concept, but other characteristics such as the bumpers, wheels, and tyres will be toned down, as seen by the several times the HBX has been observed testing. With a similar split-headlamp configuration and Tata’s signature grille, the HBX will follow the design language seen on Tata’s larger SUVs, such as the Harrier and Safari.
- The Tata HBX mini SUV will be built on the Altroz platform:
While the Tiago and Tigor are based on previous Tata platforms, the production HBX will be the company’s second vehicle built on the modular ALFA platform, which debuted with the Altroz. The production micro-SUV is projected to be quite similar to the concept’s dimensions of 3,840mm length, 1,822mm width, 1,635mm height, and 2,450mm wheelbase. Prior to the all-new Hyundai AX1 (codename) micro-SUV debut, these figures would make the HBX larger than the MarutiIgnis and Mahindra KUV100 its two closest competitors.
- The Tata HBX mini SUV will have a cabin that is a scaled-down version of the HBX concept:
Spy images of the cabin have revealed that it will look a lot like the concept from last year, however, with a lot of the elements toned down. The dashboard’s basic structure is comparable to that of the idea, with square air-con vents and a free-standing touchscreen, albeit elements like the compass next to the touchscreen and gold highlights will be absent. The cockpit will share several features with other Tata cars, including a new design steering wheel and a part-digital instrument cluster featuring a digital tachometer and an analogue speedometer. The HBX, like the Altroz, is intended to have 90-degree opening doors that will make access and egress easier. The seats will also have a higher hip point than its platform sibling.
- The Tata HBX mini SUV will only be available with petrol engines and manual or automatic transmissions:
The HBX is expected to come with two gasoline engines. The Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz are slated to share a 1.2-liter normally aspirated petrol engine, while higher variants are expected to have a new 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine. The HBX mill is planned to use direct injection technology, unlike the Nexon and AltroziTurbo units, which use port injection. A 5-speed manual and an AMT are expected to be available transmission options. An all-electric derivative is also in the works, though it will take some time.
- The Tata HBX compact SUV is set to debut in the coming months: In the next months( 15 Agu 2021), Tata is scheduled to release further details about the production HBX, including the model’s name, with a debut planned for later this year. The mini SUV is expected to be priced under Rs 5 lakh when it is released.
Pros:
- When you consider the size of a tiny hatchback, you get a real SUV.
- It’s a welcome break from the usual little hatchbacks.
- There will be numerous modification choices available to make it look tougher.
- A lot of ground clearance is always a plus.
- All Tata cars have achieved at least four stars for safety, and the HBX may follow suit.
- Later in the life cycle, an all-electric powertrain option might be available.
Cons:
- There is no diesel engine option.
- There is no choice for a turbo-petrol engine.
