Volvo’s smallest SUV, the XC40, has passed the Euro NCAP crash test by achieving a 5/5 star rating. It is the funky take on the traditional upright SUV. This XC40 model of Volvo is specially designed for the urban people with a cabin full of ingenious storage features. The boot has a volume of 460 liters and a foldable floor for extra storage. 

The interior of the car includes bold colors like warm lava carpet and oxide red upholstery. The floor mats are made from 100% recycled materials. The comfort level of the passengers is a top priority for Volvo as always. 

The sunroof allows natural light to flood during the day, whereas the mood-enhancing LED interior lights change the car’s mood during the night. 

Volvo XC40 is a new compact luxurious SUV from Volvo cars and everything to do with people and their safety. This is the smaller version of their larger cars, and the new XC40 has its unique character and tailored innovations for an active urban lifestyle. This is the first model on CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform. New XC40 is an R design car. The front has a powerful, sharp nose appearance. It has a high ground clearance of 8.3 inches.

Dimensions and capacity:

Volvo XC40 is 1652mm in height, 4425mm in length, 1863mm in width with a wheelbase of 2702mm. The track front is 1601mm, and the rear is 1626mm with a turning circle of

XC40’s interior dimensions include front and rear headroom of 103mm and 994mm, shoulder front, and the back room of 1440mm and 1429mm, respectively. It also has a leg front and rear room of 1040mm and 917mm and finally front and rear hip room of 1390mm and 1388mm. Volvo XC40 has a seating capacity of 5 with four doors.

Engine and transmission:

The Volvo XC40’s engine is a 2.0-liter petrol engine with a displacement of 1969cc. The max power is 190bhp, and Max torque is 300nm. The engine has four cylinders, and each cylinder has four valves. The car is an auto transmission type.

Fuel and performance:

The new version of the Volvo XC40 comes with a T4 inscription petrol engine. The fuel tank has a capacity of 54 litres. With BS-VI emission norm compliance, the car is designed to hit a top speed of 180km/hr. 


The car is said to give a mileage of 18kmpl as per ARAI.

Suspensions, breaks, steering, wheel, and lights:

XC40’s wheel rim stretches size from 17″ to 21″ and available in a range of designs. The car’s rear is wider than the front, which contributes to the power suspension. 

The headlights are full-LED automated high beams and active bending, which means that it turns as the car makes a turn. The fog lights are too LED. The car had an L-shaped LED taillight, and all the lights have a chrome finish. 

The rear and front suspension are automated and independent with ride height adjustable features. Both front and rear tires have disk breaks with 240 horsepower. The front and the rear alloy wheels measure 235/55R18.


Volvo is known for its safety measures, and no model is an exception, including this. The advanced safety measures include city safety, which detects any collision with cars, objects, or big animals in the distance, and if needed, it automatically stops the car. This feature works as efficiently at night as during the days. A sudden collision sensor is also applicable. The Volvo XC40 is designed with seven airbags placed for the driver, driver knee, driver side, passenger, and front passenger side. 

Other safety features of XC40 include child seat anchor points, seatbelts, and middle rear three-point seat belts. The passengers’ road security and the security are kept intact with high-level brake facilities like anti-lock brake, electronic brake force distribution, and last but not least, break assistance.

 Features like tire pressure monitoring systems, electronic stability programs, and traction control systems are installed to avoid accidents. 

For a safe hill trip, the car provides safety sensors like hill hold and hill descent controls. The door locks are remotely controlled with a speed-sensing door lock and specifically child safety

Comfort and convenience:

XC40 gets a 9-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, a 13 speaker Harman Kardon sound system, front and rear heated seat, and a panoramic sunroof.

The three-spoke steering wheel is a power steering with adjusting features. All the front and rear windows are automatic. The trunk has a light, but a remote trunk opening facility is not available. 

The car provides both front and rear parking sensors and an upgraded navigation system. The auto-start and stop button, smart key band, keyless entry, USB supports are a few of the numerous available features.

Volvo XC40 Price:

Volvo XC40 prices start at Rs. 41.25 lakh and go up to Rs. 41.25 lakh. Volvo XC40 is available in one variant: T4 R-Design, which is the entry-level model, and Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design, which costs Rs. 41.25 lakh.
